Permalink Heard In SF: Is Oracle Your Competitor?




As I got on the elevator this morning, a security guard asked another IBM WebSphere Technical Exchange attendee: "So are you all competitors to Oracle? They seem so much bigger than you. I mean they blocked off whole streets for their conference last week and they had so many more people." Things that make you go hmmm....

Update 1:33 PM PST: I now know why the guard made this statement. It seems that there were 43,000 people in SF last week for Oracle Open World and spent $5,000,000 to close the street in front of the Moscone Center. IBM has 1,300 people here for the Tech Exchange.
